A charaidean,
Announcing the
2020 Quebec Thistle Awards

March 24, 2020: Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the awards ceremony originally planned for April 2020 has been cancelled. However, the Quebec Thistle Committee is pleased to announce that the awards will still be conferred. Winners will be announced here, as well as on our social media channels. The committee thanks you for your understanding and support.

Quebec Thistle Committee
The Quebec Thistle Committee of the St. Andrew's Society of Montreal continues the work of the Quebec Thistle Council started before the World Scottish Festival in Montreal in 1992. The committee brings together Scots and Scots organizations from across Quebec to celebrate Scottish culture and traditions brought to Quebec by our forefathers.

The committee remembers the pioneering enthusiasm and generosity of T.R Anthony Malcolm who for years led the council.
Quebec Thistle Awards
The Quebec Thistle Committee grants awards to nominees proposed by the various organizations and individuals. Awards will be given for outstanding performances in various fields of endeavor, including Scottish sport, craft, dancing, music, prose, and poetry as well as special awards to those who, through their hard work and achievement, have contributed to the preservation and maintenance of Scottish culture and traditions in the Province of Quebec.
The Quebec Thistle Council joins the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal
The Quebec Thistle Council came into existence just over 25 years ago to organize the Scottish World Festival being held in Montreal in 1992—at that time celebrating its 350th anniversary of founding.  Here we are over 25 years later and the Thistle Council has been reborn as a committee of the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal. The Council has a lot to be proud of, including the naming of eminent Scotsmen/Scotswomen of the year, and recognizing  those in Quebec who perpetuate the Scottish arts: pipers, historians, chefs, dancers and many more. In the true sense of “passing the torch” to a younger generation, the Council is reinvigorating itself by becoming a committee of the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal and it has been agreed that the functions of the Council, including the awards program, the Ron Rice Lecture and the community calendar, will be continued.
